INSIDE OUT

An exhibition of new woodcut prints by Jeff Wetzig.

May 21—June 28, 2007

The installation investigates the meaning of boundaries and how we perceive them. Taking the fence as his starting point, the artist makes woodcut prints of wooden fences which become endless extensions of the original imprint.  The prints have a texture and physical quality that is unique to the woodcut medium. As the impressions unfold before us, one begins to question what is on the inside and what is on the outside, of these and other boundaries. Simultaneously humorous and serious, the installation is a tour de force of both artistic technique and thoughtful inquiry.  Jeff Wetzig is associate professor of studio art at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota.
